About This Site
Imagine a world without curiosity. Forget the curious cat, which has nine lives after all, and can afford ‘death by curiosity’ now and then. But take a moment and try to imagine your life without wonder. Stare at the horizon. Turn a spade in your garden. Listen to birds. Watch children make-up play. Think upon a time... When I try to not do that I am left with one feeling… vacuum. Quirkyhumanscience celebrates curiosity, thankful for the fact of it and where it takes us. Sometimes we can laugh at the outcomes. And sometimes we have to take a step back and catch our breath, shake our head, and ask ourselves “Is this really true?” So here you are, and welcome to quirkyhumanscience. The site is pretty simple, and only requires one thing from you: an open and inquisitive mind. Enjoy.... and Digest. And please send comments – good or otherwise – we all learn. And evolve. Oh, and if you are wondering about the logo - it's a stylized ?!?. Question - Exclamation - Question. Perfect!
About Me
Hi I’m Richard! What about me? Well, I'm Professor Emeritus in Human Biology and a founding faculty member of my institution. A skeletal biologist by trade, I have taught in the post-secondary environment for 40 years give or take a few. Loved most every minute of it, especially my students, who opened my eyes pretty much every day in the classroom. Questions. Always questions. Why this? Why that? What about... or what if...? I seldom had the answers, but I would find out, if possible. Which is why this site exists - to find out, if possible. What are the questions? What are the answers? And do they make sense? Thank you for visiting. Hope you enjoy. And if you don't leave with an answer, I hope you leave with a question.
